Project Warm Wishes

WHAT

Program Warm Wishes is a holiday gift-giving campaign that provides a holiday gift to seniors that are enrolled in the Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals program.

WHY

·        For a homebound senior, the holiday season can be a very lonely time.

·        The majority of program participants live alone, and have limited contact with family or friends

·        No family gatherings, gift exchanges, or typical holiday traditions.

·        A thoughtful gift can brighten the season for these seniors who may be alone for the holidays.

HOW IT WORKS

·        Individuals & businesses donate NEW, cozy and practical items such as blankets, books, puzzles, bath mats, etc.

·        Volunteers wrap and prepare the gifts for delivery

·        Meals on Wheels route drivers deliver the gifts to participants during their meal deliveries

·         Throw/lap blankets

·         Scarves

·         Hats

·         Gloves/mittens

·         Non-slip slipper socks

·         Electric lap/throw blankets

Personal Care & Comfort

·         Hand and body lotion (regular & travel size)

·         Lip balm

·         Toothbrush & toothpaste

·         Hand sanitizer

·         Hairbrush/comb

·         Nail groom kits

·         Shower caps

·         Hand sanitizer

·         Senior health kits

·         Microwaveable hand warmers

·         Wrap-around neck pillow

·         First-aid kits

Puzzles, Games & Entertainment

·         Game books (crossword, word-search, etc.)

·         Puzzles (New & unwrapped ONLY)

·         Large-print playing cards

·         Adult coloring/doodle books

·         Colored Pencils

·         Magazines/ Books (large print)

·         Small hobbies/craft supplies

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS

CLOTHING including:

·        Sweatshirts or sweatpants

·        Pajamas, nightgowns, or robes

·        Sweaters or jackets

·        Slippers or shoes

FOOD including:

·        Holiday Cocoa

·        Coffee and/or Tea

·        Spices/condiments

·        Popcorn, cookies, or other snacks

·        Candy
